Das Triest Hotel

The Das Triest Hotel is a classic design hotel in the trendy Freihaus area, just a 5-minute walk from the State Opera and the Naschmarkt open-air market. It was designed by Sir Terence Conran, and his design is inspired by city of Trieste, Italy, former city of the Austrian empire, with nautical design elements throughout the building. The rooms of the hotel addition were designed by the Wehdorn architect’s office. There is free WiFi available throughout the facility.

This hotel was the primary station for the stagecoach route from Vienna to Trieste almost 300 years ago. The vaulted ceilings of the old stables were converted into lounges, bedrooms, and meeting spaces.

Guests at Das Triest Hotel can enjoy breakfast or a BBQ in the Mediterranean courtyard throughout the summer. The hotel’s Bistro Porto serves fine wines, drinks, and delicacies influenced by Italian cuisine.

Triest Suite features separate living and sleeping area, 75 inch Bang & Olufsen flat screen in the living area, 40 inch Bang & Olufsen flat screen in the sleeping area, extra large king size bed (2x2m), exclusive terrace and spacious couch area and all in 100 m2 space.

Bars, restaurant and dining options

The hotel has a bar/bistro Porto and prestigious restaurant Alimentari. The bar serves large number of drinks and cocktail and wide selection of champagne.

The bistro menu is featuring light dishes made with quinoa and a prime beef carpaccio, along with a wide range of snacks such – all kinds of bruschetta and paninis, some spicy, some garnished with spring vegetables. There is also past and homemade gnocchi. In summer, there is a garden place to enjoy Porto’s menu and drinks.

The Alimentari restaurant is designed in a style of old Viennese chemist’s shop from the turn of the century. It offers a wide range of the finest delicatessen products. The selection is inspired by the idea of a journey along the historic coaching route between Vienna and Trieste. It offers gourmet food of the highest quality, ranging from interesting wines and oils to traditional sweets and pastries.
